Common Questions

Everything you might want to know about joining us.

What's included in the experiences?

All experiences includes transportation (airport to airport) within Estelí, Nicaragua; guided tours led by local experts; visits to working farms or workshops; and educational components. During the farm visits, participants will have the opportunity to tour fermentation rooms and speak with the farmers. The cigar rolling workshops offer hands-on instruction and a hand-rolled cigar. The tasting programs include premium cigars, rum pairings, and expert tasting guidance. It also includes accommodation, food, drinks (including alcoholic beverages), and cigars...

How many people are in each group?

We keep groups small – maximum 8 people. This isn't arbitrary. Small groups create space for real conversation, meaningful interaction with local guides and community members, and an atmosphere of personal exploration rather than mass tourism. You'll get genuine attention and personalized experiences, not factory-style touring.

Do I need to be a cigar expert?

Not at all. All experiences are designed for everyone – from curious beginners to experienced enthusiasts. Our guides meet you where you are and tailor the experience to your knowledge level. What matters is genuine interest in learning about Nicaragua, culture, and the people behind the craft. This is about discovery, not expertise.

How safe is it?

Your safety is paramount. All locations are carefully vetted. Guides are experienced professionals who know the region intimately and understand local culture deeply. Estelí is a peaceful, welcoming city. All experiences are thoughtfully structured with proper logistics, clear communication, and contingency planning. We're adventurous, but never reckless.

When should I book?

We recommend reaching out at least 3 weeks before your desired dates. This gives us time to arrange details with local partners and ensure we can create the right experience for you. That said, we do our best to accommodate shorter notice requests – contact us and we'll see what's possible. The earlier you reach out, the more flexibility we have to customize your experience.

What's the best time to visit?

The dry season (November to April) offers ideal weather. But experiences run year-round. The rainy season (May to October) has its own character and fewer tourists – you often get an even more authentic experience. Each season reveals different aspects of tobacco farming and fermentation. We'll help you choose the best time based on what you're interested in.

Can I share my experience on social media?

Absolutely. We love when people share their Nicaragua moments. In fact, we have a community photo gallery where registered members can upload and share photos from their experiences. It's one of the ways we build our community beyond just the experiences themselves.

Is this a commercial tour operator?

No. This isn't a commercial tour company. It's one person – someone who has lived in Nicaragua for years – sharing the places, people, and experiences that have become part of my life. It's personal. It's authentic. The focus is on genuine connection and real cultural experience, not turning a profit. We're building a community of people who care about authentic Nicaragua, not processing tourists through packages.
